In 2002, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP, Plc.) came up with the idea of closer cooperation between various Polish universities in order to efficiently use the EU structural funds to finance initiatives that support entrepreneurship.
In November 2002, the representatives of more than 20 Polish universities interested in this cooperation met together and decided on establishing a consortium of the universities. It had the declared purpose of preparing universities to apply for and efficiently use the structural funds coming from the European Union, beginning from the Poland’s accession date on 1 May 2004.
On 24 June 2003, the above universities set up the Agreement of Polish state and private owned universities to cooperate in supporting entrepreneurship in Poland. The general aim of this cooperation was to undertake activities pertaining to building a knowledge-based society, entrepreneurship development and preparing the projects in the area of broadly understood education, supported from sources coming from structural funds.
In order to coordinate these activities, the universities decided to establish a body called Association “Education for Entrepreneurship”, which was a new and challenging venture in the history of Polish academia. The Association was registered on 8 September 2003 in Krakow and the universities entered the Association as its Members.
